Big Drug Companies Fund Groups Behind Plot to Regulate Nano-Silver

Our good friend Tony Isaacs, author, investigative journalist and well-known natural health advocate has discovered what may well be the smoking gun in the campaign by radical environmental groups to have the EPA start regulating products containing silver nano-particles – including dietary colloidal silver products – as "pesticides."

Our best guess is that Big Pharma is funding these groups through one or more surreptitious pathways to pursue this avenue of silver regulation. After all, who stands to benefit more than Big Pharma from restricting silver’s availability to the general public?"

Boy did we hit the nail on the head. It now turns out that at least two big drug companies — Merck and Pfiizer — have for many years been using their own foundations to pour tens of thousands of dollars, and in some cases even millions of dollars worth of funding into some of the very environmental groups now actively engaged in promoting the petition to have "nano-silver" regulated as "pesticides."

Be sure to note the section in Tony’s article below on the Tides Foundation and Tides Center. These are non-profit groups which apparently have been set up to allow Big Pharma and other donors to secretly fund groups the donors don’t want the public to know they are funding.

We’ll let Tony’s article speak for itself. Keep in mind, however, that his article only demonstrates that a number of the environmental groups behind the petition to have silver regulated as a "pesticide" have indeed received huge amounts of funding from big drug companies. We will leave it up to you to decide if this massive funding of environmental groups by the major drug companies is what’s behind the environmentalist’s campaign to put silver nano-particles — including dietary colloidal silver — under the EPA’s regulatory thumb.

Merck, other Pharma Companies Funding Activist Groups behind the EPA Petition to Regulate Silver

Recently it was revealed that a handful of the activist agencies behind the petition to the EPA to regulate nano-silver as a pesticide have received funding from pharmaceutical giant Merck, which annually has hundreds of billions of dollars in profits from patented antibiotics which many believe are less effective, less safe and far more expensive than colloidal nano-silver products.
Now, further investigation has discovered that the initial revelations may just be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Merck and other pharmaceutical companies’ funding of the groups who support the EPA petition.
The actual source of the funding that was first revealed in emails and colloidal silver blogsites was the John Merck Fund was set up in 1970 by Serena Merck, the widow of Merck Pharmaceuticals CEO George W. Merck, in honor of their short-lived son John.
The recipients of funding who are signees on the petition to the EPA were identified as:

The Center for Food Safety (CFS) which along with its sister organization the International Center for Technology Assessment (ICTA), initiated the EPA petition and enlisted the other groups which signed off on the petition, received the second largest amount of funding of any group from the John Merck Fund — second only to the huge total of the Tides Center/Tides Foundation, whose total funding of almost $2.7 Million dwarfs the combined total of $1.75 Million given to the CFS and the ICTA and CFS.

As it turns out, the top funding recipient Tides Foundation and Tides Center are also actively involved in the petition to regulate silver, as well as the source of funding and support to several of the other groups who signed the EPA petition.
When one goes to the Tides Center website, their position is apparent to one and all with the posting of a press release urging support of the EPA petition:

Information on Tides Center’s website and other web searches found the following Tides Center/Tides Foundation connections to groups involved in the nanosilver petition, but who are not listed as Merck funding recipients:
• Center for Environmental Health (a project of the Tides Center)
• Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (previous funding and connections with the Tides Foundation)
• Clean Production Action (a Tides Center project)
• Food and Water Watch (receives donations from the Tides Foundation)
• The Loka Institute (has no current offices but was previously provided office space and a mailbox in Washington. DC by the International Center for Technology Assessment in their offices)
In addition, a $200,000 grant for 2006-2007 from a second Merck Foundation, the Merck Family Fund to another petitioner, Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition, was discovered.
A quick internet search reveals that Merck is not the only pharmaceutical company which provides funding to the Tides Foundation and Tides Center, as this listing of the top funding recipient from the Pfizer Foundation demonstrates:

The Tides Foundation is described by Activistcash.com as quickly becoming "the 800 pound gorilla for activist funding."

The Tides foundation was established in 1976 by California activist Drummond Pike. Tides does two things better than any other foundation or charity in the U.S. today: it routinely obscures the sources of its tax-exempt millions, and makes it difficult (if not impossible) to discern how the funds are actually being used.

In practice, “Tides” behaves less like a philanthropy than a money-laundering enterprise (apologies to Procter & Gamble), taking money from other foundations and spending it as the donor requires. Called donor-advised giving, this pass-through funding vehicle provides public-relations insulation for the money’s original donors. By using Tides to funnel its capital, a large public charity can indirectly fund a project with which it would prefer not to be directly identified in public. Drummond Pike has reinforced this view, telling The Chronicle of Philanthropy: “Anonymity is very important to most of the people we work with.”
Due to the efforts of many foundations to keep their funding activities anonymous, it is difficult to determine the true scope of pharmaceutical company funding for the Tides group as well as the individual activist groups.
Given the information outlined above, one can only wonder what other pharmaceutical funding is linked to these groups and shudder to think of how many activist groups have been corrupted by funding from Big Pharma and other companies with agendas that are anything but in the public interest.
It is easy to see how such subterfuge can corrupt decision making, the same as can paid lobbyists and political funding. Obviously it would be in the distinct public interest to require full disclosure of funding sources for every organization which petitions a government agency or legislative body to see where there might be funding sources who would stand to benefit as a result of the desired action or legislation.
Similarly, it would also be in the public interest to require full details of all the activities and efforts of lobbyists, including expenses and the details of each meeting held by lobbyists with government officials. While we are at it, we would also be a better informed and better served citizenry if every elected official’s vote on any measure included donations and links to any companies or other entities affected by such legislation.
Granted, such reforms are a tall order, but until we see such altruistic change all the talk about true transparency in government is merely lip service – and the words from our own lips will continue to have little chance of reaching those whose ears are captured by the special interests who have bought off and otherwise rigged the process in their favor.

Every year when flu season rolls around the public is barraged with news stories about the reasons to get a flu shot. This year is no different. From coast to coast the headlines are blaring “Get Your Shot!” Within the past few months the CDC even lowered the recommended age for the flu shot to children as young as six months old. Basically, that means they think that just about everyone in the country should get the shot except for newborns in order to stay well.

I have been trying to counter the propaganda regarding the flu shot for a number of years and for a number of reasons. Here are a few of them.

1. The flu shot contains toxic agents that could be harmful to your health. The shot could contain aluminum, formaldehyde, thimerosal (mercury), ethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, antibiotics and other adjuvants.  Ask for the package insert on the shot for more details or do some research on the Internet. None of these compounds are 100% safe to inject into your body, even in the smallest of amounts. A slew of research points to them being serious culprits in a number of health challenges, including permanent disabilities and death. 2. The flu shot does not guarantee immunity. There is no evidence that the flu shot actually works. Pharmaceutical companies play a guessing game each year to try and determine which viral strain or strains will be circulating during flu season and that’s what they’ll put in the shot. The problem is viruses can mutate and change forms very easily so trying to guess which virus to protect against is analogous to a Vegas Craps shoot. Every year in recent memory, including the 2007-08 flu season, they have vaccinated against strains that have been proven to not be the culprit. According to a story written by Sheryl Walters for www.naturalnews.com, “In 2004, The National Vaccine Information Center reported that the vaccine given that year did not contain the flu strain that caused the majority of flu outbreaks that year. A study published in the Lancet in August revealed that there was no correlation between the flu shot and reduced risk of pneumonia. Further, a large study of 260,000 children between 23 month and 6 discovered that the flu vaccine is no more effective than a placebo. This was reported in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews.”

According to the CDC’s own data, preventing influenza with the shot in the past has only ranged between 30-40%. That means that 60-70% of those who have taken the shot in previous flu seasons were not protected from the flu at all. This flu season (2008-09), the CDC is making bold claims that the shot will be 70-90% effective. This is being stated before flu season really kicks into high gear, and it is being stated after last year’s shot was proven to miss the mark. Sadly, the failure rate is never given. Most in society have been conditioned to believe that if you get a flu shot you’re protected.
3. The flu shot helps spread the flu. The shot contains something called attenuated virus. Attenuated basically means half-killed. The shot has to evoke an immune response and therefore has to have some form of viral activity to it to stimulate that immune response. The theory is to give you a tiny dose of the flu so your body will build immunity to it. Anyone who thinks that they are not contagious after getting a flu shot is woefully mistaken. Most of the package inserts will even tell you that you may exhibit mild flu symptoms for a few days after getting a shot. There are also a percentage of people who receive the shot and get very sick. If you don’t want to get the flu one way to avoid it is to stay away from people who get the shot for at least two weeks.   

While these are just a few of the many reasons to question the flu shot, I feel that all of the potential risks and dangers need to be called into question on a much bigger scale than they have thus far because the entire planet may be mandated to get pre-screened and vaccinated in the near future to combat a pandemic.

The CDC has been warning the world of a flu pandemic for years and have intensified their warnings and preparations even more so this year. The World Health Organization (WHO) recently stated that they believe the world is now closer to another influenza pandemic than any time since the last outbreak in 1968. I’m sure you’re familiar with the standard line that’s continuously parroted; “It’s not a matter of if, but when.” A simple Google search on the Internet will lead you to an endless number of stories regarding the preparations taking place to combat a flu pandemic. Just about every city, county and state government in the country is actively working on pandemic preparations. The CDC has been giving grant money to various state health departments to help them prepare for a pandemic. Most hospitals and health care workers have either run exercises on preparing for a pandemic or have received detailed training. Most front line emergency personnel have received pandemic training. The military has been running exercises on dealing with a pandemic.

The one common theme that exists in all this news is that the flu shot will protect you. An example of this absurdity comes from an October 1, 2008 story appearing on the website www.thepittsburghchannel.com:

“Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are once again recommending a flu shot for almost everyone. Despite the recommendations every year to get a flu shot, most of those who really need the vaccination fail to get it. The CDC is trying to avoid a potential pandemic and the only way to do that is to get a flu shot.”

Further pandemic preparations include the FDA’s approval of a new CDC test to detect the flu through a scanner. Here’s a clip of the story from the CDC’s website:
“The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today cleared a new test developed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to diagnose human influenza infections and the highly pathogenic influenza A (H5N1) viruses. The device, called the Human Influenza Virus Real-Time RT-PCR Detection and Characterization Panel (rRT-PCR Flu Panel), uses a molecular biology technique to detect flu virus and differentiate between seasonal and novel influenza. The device is used to isolate and amplify viral genetic material present in secretions taken from a patient’s nose or throat. The viral genetic material is labeled with fluorescent molecules, which are then detected and analyzed by a diagnostic instrument called the Applied Biosystems 7500 Fast Dx, also cleared today by the FDA for diagnostic use simultaneously with the CDC’s rRT-PCR Flu Panel. The test panel and diagnostic system can detect and identify commonly circulating human influenza viruses as well as influenza A (H5N1) viruses. Results can be available within four hours and the system can test multiple samples at once.”

How this new testing equipment will be implemented on a wide scale remains to be seen but we can expect to see it popping up all over the place very soon. The reality is there may very well be a flu pandemic upon the horizon. Many ominous signs seem to point to the possibility of one. Whether or not it’s this year, the likelihood of a pandemic in the near future is almost certain because the CDC and the pharmaceutical industry have repeatedly told us one is inevitable. The fact that they have been actively coordinating their efforts with the World Health Organization, the U.N. and virtually every international health department and agency in the world is a strong indication that they are privy to some inside information that we aren’t. 

There’s a reason why FEMA has an estimated half a million plastic coffins sitting in an open field in Georgia.  There are similar reports surfacing in other parts of the country as well about large quantities of plastic coffins to dispose of dead bodies.  There are pictures and video clips of these posted on the Internet. The federal government has been actively preparing for a mass casualty event in this country for a long time – even before 911.

In my opinion, a flu pandemic is a perfect cover for some sort of clandestine operation. Think about it for a moment; who is going to get blamed for a flu pandemic? Nobody! A pandemic would be blamed on natural causes or an act of God. However, it could provide the necessary justification to issue a national emergency, implement martial law and turn American sovereignty over to the hands of an international organization like the U.N., similar to how we are being told that the economic crisis we’re in needs to be resolved on a global level through international organizations like the IMF and World Bank.

I also have strong reasons to believe based on the evidence I have seen that if there is a pandemic, the flu shot will play some kind of role in either causing it or spreading it. That’s right! The very shot we are all being told we need to avoid the flu may very well be a major culprit.

I don’t think anyone knows for sure what effect the flu shot can have on the body’s DNA or immune system and the long term damage it may cause, except perhaps some demented geneticist working under the cover of protection in a black ops project. No one knows for certain when you start tinkering with viruses through genetic engineering that there won’t be unpredictable consequences. In fact, if you look at what’s in this year’s flu shot from the CDC’s own website, after each listing it says “like virus”. That means it was created through genetic engineering. There is such a mad rush to produce vaccines to fight the flu that health authorities are willing to throw caution to the wind as far as safety studies.

All anyone needs to do is look at the damaging consequences various aspects of genetic engineering have had with crop production or in the farming community with animals that became sterile, and in the food chain where people had serious allergic reactions to recombinant bacteria to understand that there are definitely risks inherent with all shots, but especially those that are produced through genetic engineering. Do any of you recall StarLink corn that happened to make its way into the food chain? How about Monsanto’s rBST hormone used to increase milk production?

I know that what I am saying may sound a little paranoid to some of you, but that is the level of distrust I have for the entire medical establishment. They have shown their true colors a long time ago and have proven that they do not have our best interests in mind. 

Just ask all the parents of autistic children who had fine, healthy children until they received their CDC recommended round of vaccines if they have confidence in the flu shot. Ask all the sick and dying soldiers who faithfully took their vaccines before going to war in Iraq or Afghanistan? Many of our soldiers are seriously disabled from the vaccines. There are far too many dead and injured victims worldwide as a result of vaccines to dismiss the flu shot as not being a threat to a vast number of human beings living on the planet.

Everything the global elite does has a well thought out purpose behind it that no doubt will make them more money and give them more control over the populace. That’s why a flu pandemic is being so hyped up. A world health emergency is just one of a number of scenarios they have in their bag of tricks to advance their global aspirations.

Here’s an interesting clip from a recent edition of The Idaho Observer that re-affirms what I have stated:

Fight FEAR -
(False Emotions Appearing Real)

What you need to know is that the primary weapon being used against us by the “powers that be” is fear. The main reason people throughout the world take risky drugs and vaccines with clearly stated adverse side effects is a result of fear that they will die without them. I’m sure you know exactly what I’m referring to? It takes an educated person with cold, hard facts to counter the lies. And that’s under normal circumstances. If millions of people come down with the flu and start dying worldwide, pandemonium and a level of fear will grip almost everyone like nothing has before. The vast majority will line up to get pre-screened and take a flu shot. They’re doing it now in a normal flu season. It is estimated that close to 65% of the population already gets a flu shot. How much higher will those percentages go when it is mandated by the government to combat a health emergency?

I’m here to tell you that whenever you feel the spirit of fear upon you, it is a negative emotion from the enemy. There are many passages in the Bible to give us help and strength to overcome our fears.

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10)

Psalm 34 is another great Psalm in the Bible to give us strength and comfort, especially as it relates to the spirit of fear.

“I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

Psalm 91 has most assuredly been written for our times. I urge you to read it often and if possible, memorize it.

My goal is to encourage and empower you to let sound judgment guide your thoughts and decisions. When it comes to the flu and the flu shot, I urge you to put the matter to prayer. Get a check in your spirit and see if you have peace in your heart about it after a thorough examination of all the facts. The Internet is full of excellent information both pro and con so you can make an informed decision. Stop letting the government and Big Pharma bully you and your family with their fear tactics.

Our forefathers fought and died to give us freedom from tyranny and oppression. That includes all matters as it relates to health as well. There are still many people in this country and around the world who want to be left alone with the right to take our own precautions and do what we think is best to survive a health emergency without being denied natural options, herded into quarantine centers under the excuse of being a “public health threat” for refusing a shot, or mandated by force to submit to what the CDC says is best for us.

It Is Wise To Get Prepared

In the event of a flu pandemic what you need to know is that it could last for months. There could be serious disruptions in the flow of goods throughout the country including gas, water, food and other vital necessities we take for granted under normal conditions. In an October 13, 2008 story appearing on the website http://technocrat.net it stated:

“Researchers at Georgia Tech have been developing models that will help emergency planning authorities and volunteer organizations such as the Red Cross predict in advance when and where and how they would need to focus efforts in order to feed millions of people suddenly cut off from the normal aspects of the ‘just in time’ food distribution system during possible large scale pandemics.”

Take what I am saying as a word of caution. It is important to take some necessary preparations beforehand so you are not caught off guard. The CDC has actually recommended that everyone store a two-week supply of water and food in preparation for a possible pandemic or other emergency. In my opinion a minimum of 3 months supply of food for you and your family would be very prudent. This is not as hard or as costly as some might think. You can get all kinds of bulk items at places like Costco, Sam’s and BJ’s. You can get canned foods from any grocery store. Stocking up on nutritional bars and protein powders that serve as meal replacers are a great idea as well.

There are many companies in the country that specialize in long-term storable food. Check out Emergency Essentials at www.BePrepared.com. You can also call them at 1-800-999-1863 and request a catalog. Another good website is www.patriotfood.com. Having extra food on hand to survive in an emergency is an excellent idea for more than just flu preparations. The economic crisis has quickly shown us how fragile everything is in life. Hurricane Katrina showed us that the government is incapable of handling a crisis in a timely manner that can cost many people their lives. Multiply a Katrina scenario on a national level and you can quickly see how ugly things could get very fast. All kinds of circumstances could occur from weather related events to terrorist attacks to a flu pandemic that make taking precautions a wise thing to do.

Another precaution you can take is frequent hand washing. Most germs are simply spread by surface contact. Regular hand washing has been noted to be one of the most effective ways to ward off the cold and flu. Make sure you avoid putting unwashed hands in, on or near your ears, eyes, nose or mouth. Be aware that antibacterial soaps and most hand sanitizers have toxic ingredients in them that aren’t recommended. Look for 100% pure, natural alternatives. Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing. Have a supply of face masks in case of a widespread outbreak.

If you don’t have confidence that the flu shot is the answer to protection then you need an arsenal of safe, natural alternatives that can help assist the body during a heightened time of attack.  There are many very effective products available to choose from. You can do research on the Internet or visit a local health food store for more information.  While there are an extensive number of alternatives, I’ve compiled a short list of what I’ve discovered to be some of the more effective options that are readily available in most health food stores and on the Internet.

Oregano Oil: This natural wonder has been used for its reported antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antiseptic properties for thousands of years. Many people in recent years have claimed that regular use of Oregano Oil during the cold and flu season has prevented them from getting sick or helped them recover much faster without the use of drugs. One of the best brands on the market is P73 from North American Herb & Spice Company. There are other versions on the market but you’ll have to do some deeper research on your own to find a better one. The best way to use Oregano Oil is to put 7-10 drops on your tongue numerous times throughout the day at the onset of symptoms with no food or water. It has a very strong taste and slight burning sensation but is very effective at targeting bacteria and viruses in the throat where you generally feel the first symptoms of a cold or flu.

Grapefruit Seed Extract:  Grapefruit seed extract (GSE) is used to help ward off bacteria like Strep, Staph, Salmonella and E. Coli. It is also beneficial for dealing with Candida, herpes, influenza, parasites, fungi and traveler’s diarrhea. Honey:  Honey has been widely used as a natural immune system booster and protective agent against viruses and bacteria since man has walked the earth. Make sure the honey you get is not processed. You want raw, unprocessed honey. 

Aloe Vera: Contains high amounts of mucopolysaccharides which kick in the immune modulators to help fight off infection and disease. This is another plant with great biblical significance that cannot be overlooked when it comes to protecting your health.

Probiotics: Probiotics help to maintain and rebuild intestinal flora. Flora plays a very important role in the healthy functioning of the immune system. In fact, it is estimated that 80% of your immune system comes from your gut. Many substances in our modern lifestyle have severely diminished or wiped out flora health in a substantial number of people. That’s why probiotic supplementation is vital for almost everyone. There are many good probiotic formulas on the market. Look for one that has a wide diversity of bacteria that has the highest possible strain count.

Ask a representative what oils may be good to combat the flu and you will definitely be led in a good direction.

Zinc: An essential mineral that promotes a healthy immune system and fights free radicals. Zinc lozenges have been reported to be effective in relieving symptoms of the common cold and reducing duration of colds. Like all minerals, look for a chelated form of zinc or one that is produced in a 100% whole food grown form so your body will utilize it effectively.

Water: It’s very important to keep your body properly hydrated. Make sure you consume at least a ½ gallon a day of water to adequately flush out toxins and hydrate your cells. Remember, coffee, alcohol, soda and most bottled drinks are dehydrating on the body.

Ridiculous Petition Seeks to Have Nano-Silver Regulated as a Pesticide
Recently I received an email asking me to support the petition by a coalition of environmental groups to the EPA for them to regulate nano-sized silver particles as pesticides – not surprising since the groups have been inundating their members with literally millions of such messages. In response, I replied that I would absolutely NOT make a comment in support of this misguided and idiotic petition and in instead I will do everything in my power to gather support to do just the opposite.

I simply cannot believe how some likely good intentioned environmental and activist groups allow themselves to be used as tools by those who have anything but our health or concerns for the environment on their agenda.  I note that the petition actually sprang from the International Center for Technology Assessment which enlisted its sister organization and several other environmental and activist groups to support their logical appearing yet misleading petition.  Regardless of what the intentions of any of the group may be, make no mistake that what is really behind this effort is the suppression of colloidal silver because of the threat it represents to billions of dollars in profits of the world pharmaceutical empire.

Requiring colloidal silver and colloidal silver generator makers to perform needless environmental and other safety studies at costs of several million dollars each would result in the elimination of colloidal silver from the market, which I believe is the desired result of the petition, even though many who advocate it may not be aware of it.

In 1997, the mainstream medical tool we know and love as the FDA made colloidal silver a number one target due to the threat it represented to the billions of dollars in profits from patented and approved antibiotics.  Even since, the campaign against colloidal silver has been waged both openly and behind the scenes.

The Utopia Silver Supplement Company was singled out as a test case to see just how far the government could go in suppressing colloidal silver, natural supplements and commercial freedom of speech when the FDA sent a letter of complaint to the Texas Health authorities because of what they said were health claims on the Utopia Silver website which made colloidal silver fit the FDA’s arbitrary definition of a drug.  But that case ground to a halt when Utopia Silver owner Ben Taylor and noted constitutional activist Al Adask refused to accept the non-constitutional authority of the FDA or the administrative color of law courts they employ to enforce codes and laws that are in violation of constitutionally protected unalienable rights as declared by our forefathers in the Declaration of Independence.

Next, the famous blue man, Papa Smurf Paul Karason was paraded around to talk shows and media across the United States.  Despite his declaration that silver had saved his life the message was that ingesting colloidal silver turns you blue and is dangerous. What was not told was given little attention was the fact that Karason made his own ionic silver and contaminated it with salt, and then drank over 14 ounces a day for years.

What was given even less media attention was he fact that Karason got a complete physical at Mount Sinai at the request of the Today Show after his appearance there and was given a clean bill of health.  Probably no one has taken more nano-sized silver than Paul Karason and he took an improper form.  His clean bill of health should stand as stark testimony to the LACK of danger of nano-silver.

Next, blue woman Dorothy Jacobs was resurrected and sent on her own series of interviews and speeches, talking about the dangers of silver in language that was obviously coached from behind the scenes. Once again, lost in the coverage was the fact that Jacobs took an MD prescribed nose drop product containing large particle silver nitrate, not colloidal nano-silver, in large quantities for many years.

Now, we see what appears to be a well orchestrated end game to abolish colloidal silver by the absurd idea of classifying it as a pesticide because it kills such pests as bacteria, viruses and fungi and thus is an anti-microbial agent and falls within the EPA definition of a pesticide.  That sounds far too similar to me to the FDA’s arbitrary definition of anything that implies health benefits as a drug, and conveniently allow the FDA to suppress and persecute natural supplements and even fruit growers who tell the truth about their products health benefits.  If anything that has “anti-microbial action” is to be deemed as a pesticide, should we not regulate bleach, germicidal soaps, household disinfectants, alcoholic beverages AND mainstream antibiotics in the same way, to name just a few?

How about the vegetables and fruits we eat?  They ingest elemental silver and convert it into nano-sized particles too.  Of course, the same people who are really behind regulating colloidal silver would love to regulate vegetables and fruit, as well as all vitamins, minerals and natural health supplements.  Colloidal silver is just one of many targets intended to force us into GMO foods and into the hands of the managed illness industry wrongfully called healthcare, with its side effect laden drugs created in the lab which are not found in nature and have side effects in over 95% of the cases.  One might point out that those compounds are themselves delivered in nano size molecules and groups of molecules, and that studies HAVE proven the harm to aquatic and other life from the volume of antibiotic and other drugs that is flushed into our water supplies from urine in vastly larger quantities that colloidal and other nano-silver will ever be.

Silver is a natural element that has been found in the soil since the beginning of time as mankind and animal and vegetable life have developed and flourished.  Recent studies in Hungary have discovered silver receptors on human cell tissue, which means that silver is in fact an essential element for health in humans.

The EPA conducted its own study on silver a few years back and found it to be non toxic in any but huge amounts far beyond what anyone would ingest in a colloidal silver product.  NASA conducted tests to find the best and safest product for water purification and guess what they chose?  Yep, silver.  And they continue to use it in many applications, including the International Space Station, where they use none other than nano-sized silver.

Colloidal Silver Has Mainstream Medicine "Singing the Blues"

The recent widespread mainstream media coverage of the “blue man” Paul Karason and his rare skin condition known as Argyria is the latest in a series of largely misleading and sensationalized scare stories about the dangers of colloidal silver turning a person’ skin blue.

Although this latest story did not appear to originate from mainstream medicine or the FDA, there is little doubt that they have welcomed it with open arms and have been quick to trot out “medical experts” and past FDA warnings to help “sing the blues” about colloidal silver.  The truth is that mainstream medicine has a very good reason to cry long and loud about colloidal silver, because it does represent a very real danger – a danger to the huge profits of the pharmaceutical industry’s patented antibiotics.
The truth is that silver has been used effectively by mankind to fight germs and ailments for thousands of years, and the instances of it turning people’s skin blue are so rare as to be almost non-existent.  As a matter of fact, almost all of the relative handful of reported instances have involved one or more of the following: older silver products that contained as much as 10% or more silver (compared to mere parts per million in modern colloidal silver), silver nitrate, home made colloidal silver that was contaminated with salt, and silver that has been consumed continuously in very large quantities over a very long period of time.

In the case of Karason, he made his own ionic silver at home for almost two decades and for many years consumed a quart or more per day.  I daresay that any prescribed or over the counter medication whose recommended dosage was a couple of teaspoons a day would do far worse than turn a person blue if they drank a quart or more of it a year!  Karason actually appears to enjoy his notoriety as the Papa Smurff blue man, and even though he sings the praises of how colloidal silver saved his life and the many ailments he believes it cured, the focus of attention is on his blue skin – a condition that is actually reversible despite mainstream claims to the contrary.

What is also true about colloidal silver is that it is far safer, more effective and less expensive than the marginally effective and side effect laden mainstream antibiotics – and has mainstream and university studies proving it which date back to the early 1900’s.  The best and strongest of the FDA approved antibiotics are effective for a handful of bacteria at best, whereas colloidal silver is supremely effective against just about every kind of single celled pathogen, including bacteria, fungal growths and viruses (which antibiotics are often wrongly prescribed for, despite the fact that antibiotics have no effect on viruses).

If the public were told the truth, a rarity when it comes to mainstream drugs versus natural competition, colloidal silver would represent a huge threat to literally billions of dollars of profits and so it is no wonder that mainstream medicine and their allies in the mainstream media are once again loudly singing the blues – just as they have repeatedly done in the past with misleading stories and studies about a great many popular natural plants, supplements, vitamins and minerals that represent threats to mainstream drug profits because they are safer, more effective and less expensive alternatives to the unnatural, side effect laden, hugely expensive and marginally effective synthetics created in the labs of the powerful world pharmaceutical empire.

While there are a great many natural threats to mainstream profits, whose use and track recordsof safety and effectiveness date back hundreds and even thousands of years, perhaps no natural alternative to mainstream drugs represents as big of a threat to industry profits as colloidal silver, and it is no coincidence that colloidal silver has been placed at the very top of the FDA/mainstream medicine hit list.

However, when it comes to warning and scaring people away from silver, both the mainstream medical industry and the FDA have serious credibility problems. First of all, silver has a history of safe and effective use dating back thousands of years. In addition, it continues to be widely used today, including being used by NASA, the US military and Potters for Peace for water purification, being used as a germicidal agent by hospitals and medical suppliers and recently was incorporated into a new line of hospital pajamas to prevent the spread of infection, to name just a few of it’s present day uses.

The biggest credibility problem of all for mainstream medicine and the FDA regarding silver is likely how they both approved and embraced silver for medicinal use at one time. yet now would have us believe that silver is both ineffective and dangerous. At one time silver products were very much in favor with both mainstream medicine and the FDA.  No fewer than 34 different prescribed and over-the-counter medications containing silver were not only widely sold by industry, they were also approved by the very same FDA which now seeks to warn us of its dangers and have us believe it is ineffective.
What changed their minds?  Perhaps the obvious answer can be found in the fact that silver fell out of favor at the very same time that patented sulfa drugs and patented antibiotics created in drug company labs came on the market.  Once that happened, the non-patentable silver was no longer a tool for healing, but a threat to profits.

Zealous protection of mainstream approved drugs and suppression of natural competition is nothing new – look at the estimated 100,000 or more deaths caused by Vioxx before the FDA finally removed it from the market.  Look at the ridiculous actions of the FDA when it threatened Washington cherry growers for telling the truth about the health benefits of eating cherries, or at the storm trooper actions against the makers of Charantia (bitter melon) tea in Florida who dared put references to some of the 650 plus PubMed studies and citations about bitter melon on their website.

The FDA persecutions and prosecutions of cherry farmers, bitter melon, and a long line of other natural alternatives points out just how extreme the protection of the big drug companies products and profits really is.  Consider this: other than issues of national security, only in natural health is it a crime to tell the truth due to the way the FDA has construed their rules and definitions to protect industry.  For example, if a company were to advertise that vitamin C was a cure for scurvy, as everyone knows is true,  that company could be prosecuted for selling unapproved drugs.  The same would be true if a company printed a testimonial from someone who reported health benefits due to vitamin C, or any other vitamin, mineral, supplement or non FDA approved drug.

For example, only the makers of FDA approved drugs can use the word cure, or even imply and health benefits without the FDA considering the product a drug.  The catch is that in order to be FDA approved, no matter how many PubMed cited studies or other studies have been performed, and no matter how much of a history of hundreds or thousands of years and users, the FDA only approves drugs that go through its specific approval process – one that costs hundreds of billions of dollars.

When it comes to natural alternatives, spending such money on a natural  product is prohibitive, since it could not be patented and could be freely and cheaply sold by any number of competitors and it would be virtually impossible to ever recover all the costs of getting the natural product approved.  Though the process is purported to be one which protects the public from unsafe medicines (and we see how well that worked for hall of shame list of drugs like Vioxx, Avandia, etc.), the net effect of the FDA’s drug definitions and approval process is to exclude natural competition and insure that only the patentable and profitable synthetics created in drug company labs can be approved and marketed as having health benefits.

The most recent example of such one-sided treatment favoring industry came in the following news story earlier this past week about a lawsuit filed against the FDA by Public Citizen after the FDA ignored years of complaints about the dangers of ruptured tendons caused by one of the drug industry’s most powerful and profitable antibiotics:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Despite long-standing evidence that fluoroquinolone antibiotics can cause tendon ruptures, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has failed to increase its warnings to patients and physicians about the dangers of the medicines, Public Citizen told a federal court Thursday.

Public Citizen sued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia , asking the court to force the FDA to act upon a petition the consumer group filed with the agency 16 months ago. The FDA has failed to respond to the petition, which asked the agency to put a “black box” warning on fluoroquinolone antibiotics (such as Cipro, Levaquin and others) to make doctors and patients more aware of the risk of serious tendon injury before tendons actually rupture.

The petition also urged the FDA to send a warning letter to physicians, as well as require an FDA-approved medication guide to be dispensed when prescriptions are filled. Public Citizen contends that the FDA is violating the Administrative Procedure Act by not acting upon the petition.

Stronger warnings could lead to earlier intervention and prevent needless injuries by allowing doctors to switch patients to other antibiotics, said Dr. Sidney Wolfe, director of Public Citizen’s Health Research Group.

“While the FDA sits idly by and ignores the problem, more people will suffer serious tendon ruptures that could have been prevented,” Wolfe said. “The current warning is buried in a long list of possible adverse reactions and is far too easy to miss.”

From November 1997 through December 2005, the FDA received 262 reports of tendon ruptures, mainly of the Achilles tendon, 258 cases of tendonitis and 274 cases of other tendon disorders in patients using fluoroquinolone antibiotics. An additional 74 tendon ruptures have subsequently been reported to the FDA for a total of 336. Because only a small fraction of cases are typically reported to the FDA, the actual number of ruptures and other tendon injuries attributable to the antibiotic is much higher.”

One can only imagine the FDA’s reaction if 336 tendon ruptures had been reported for those who take the best antibiotic and pathogen destroyer on the planet – colloidal silver.  No doubt, they would have raided the manufacturer with storm troopers and shut it down years ago, just as they have done many times with the manufacturers and sellers of other natural competitors to drug company products.

In conclusion, as far as I can tell, not one single instance of Argyria has been attributed to properly made colloidal, that has not stopped the FDA from continuing to “sing the blues” about silver or from going after those who make and sell colloidal silver products, not because silver represents a whit of threat to human health but rather because it represents a threat to the inflated bottom line profits of the mainstream drug manufacturers.

Finding out who the FDA really serves is a simple task – all you have to do is follow the money.  But don’t simply take my word, let a noted past FDA commissioner tell you very clearly what the FDA is really about:

Utopia Silver’s Fight for Health Freedom

For the past five years the Utopia Silver Supplement Company, has been waging a  battle for health freedom against the giants of the State of Texas and the FDA – one which may have major implications for all of us regarding the freedom of access to natural health supplements.

Much like the Alamo defenders in days gone by, this small Texas company and its supporters of health freedom are pitted against a corrupt giant determined to impose it’s will and stifle freedom – and, just like the Alamo and the struggles that followed, the outcome may effect the freedom and future of millions.

The conflict began as result of an FDA complaint five years ago that seeks to set a precedent for how much control the FDA has over all natural supplement companies and specifically the manufacture and sale of colloidal silver supplements.
While the Texas Attorney General’s office may try to contend that this is merely a state action “to insure the safety of the citizens of the State of Texas”, the truth is that the prosecuting Texas assistant attorney general and TDSHS officials are commissioned as officers of the FDA and there is no denying that the investigation into Utopia Silver began as a result of an FDA complaint. The certificates of Commission were obtained after several filings of Texas Public Information Act requests. Therefore, this is really a Federal action by proxy and it has pitted Utopia Silver Supplements against the Goliath of the FDA and the World Pharma lords the FDA serves.

The persecution of Utopia Silver began five years or so ago, about the same time that the FDA began renewed targeting of colloidal silver because of it’s effectiveness as a natural anti-biotic and rising popularity – and not coincidentally as a threat to the profits of Big Pharma and mainstream medicine – the FDA sent an email to the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS ) essentially complaining that Utopia Silver was making medical claims which, in the eyes of the FDA turned their supplements into drugs. The TDSHS then brought the ‘complaint’ to the Office of the Texas Attorney General (TAG).

It has since been determined that among the targeted objections are: having ‘disease’ terms such as cancer, hepatitis, diabetes, etc., posted anywhere on the website; having any ‘disease’ terms in a search engine, and the posting of testimonials from customers who had used Utopia Silver products and defeated or improved any ‘disease’ condition.

Such restrictions appear to be clear violation of the First Amendment (Freedom of Speech) of the Constitution of the United States of America, especially the supposed prohibition against posting testimonials and speaking the truth about how people believe that dietary supplements have helped them. If the FDA is to have their way, they will stifle a supplement company’s constitutionally protected freedom of speech to the extent that a person seeking a natural dietary supplement for any medical condition would not be able to go to any website which offered vitamins, minerals, natural supplements or any other alternatives to mainstream medicine and be able to find that term in a search of the site or mentioned anywhere in the site. Neither would they be able to find testimonials/customer opinion from anyone who had used an alternative to FDA approved drugs and medical procedures.
It is no secret that the FDA has targeted colloidal silver, which is a safe, effective, natural and inexpensive pathogen destroyer – four common traits of dietary supplements that represent competition to the approved drugs of Big Pharma and which frequently come under FDA attack. It is worth noting that that the FDA at one time had approved 34 different prescribed and OTC medications containing silver, but withdrew approval at about the same time antibiotics came on the market and superior methods of making colloidal silver commercially and at home were devised.

The Texas state district court hearings and threatened trial are purportedly about licensing and inspections, but the FDA complaint was centered around the publication of customer testimonials which the FDA considers to be health claims that supposedly enable them to label Colloidal Silver and other Utopia Silver dietary supplements as drugs, and that too is part of the legal proceedings.

Although the State of Texas maintains that they are acting alone, Utopia Silver has obtained copies of individual certificates which show that the state health and AG employees are also “Commissioned Officers” of the FDA – in apparent conflict with the separation of state and federal powers. It is Utopia Silver’s contention that the actions to restrict them are unconstitutional restraints on the freedom of commercial speech (as borne out by previous Supreme Court decisions) and further contends that there is no constitutional jurisdiction for the state agencies, who are actually for-profit corporations (and they are listed as such by Dun and Bradstreet) disguised as constitutional entities.
Utopia Silver believes, as do many others including legal scholars, that much of the country’s court system and agencies operate outside the Constitution as corporate entities, having no real jurisdiction until defendents unwittingly submit to the jurisdiction by entering into a “contract” with the courts and agencies through such measures as making a ‘general’ rather than a ’special’ appearance before a court, entering a motion, applying for a license, hiring an attorney (who are themselves ‘officers of the court’), etc. Such scholars and observers point to the yellow fringed admiratly flags flying in most of our courts as clear symbols that the courts are not constitutional courts but rather administrative corporate courts operating under the “color of law”.
In the case against Utopia Silver, Taylor contends that there is no constitutionally mandated requirement for them to submit to what amounts to a commercial contract with the STATE OF TEXAS, a corporation acting under the color of law but not under the state or federal constitutions, and not in accordance with the God-given unalienable rights clearly declared by our forefathers when this country was founded.

So far the Texas Attorney General’s Office (TAG), has given no indication of making a fair or reasonable settlement – although in the Spring of 2005, the Assistant Texas Attorney General in charge of the case, Raul Noriega, first agreed and then reneged on an oral agreement that would have settled the case. When asked why, Noriega’s response was that he was told by higher ups to proceed to trial despite the prior agreement to settle.

In the summer of 2006, TDSHS employees paid three separate visits to the Utopia Silver offices and demanded with a bogus warrant to make inspections. The first time, two TDSHS officers paid a visit. One identified himself as an “inspector” and the other as an “investigator”. The owner of Utopia Silver, Ben Taylor, asked to see credentials so he could make copies. When they refused he ordered them to leave his premises and they complied.

The next day they returned, accompanied by two Texas State Troopers, and said they had a warrant. When Taylor demanded to see a supporting affidavit, they refused, saying he could go to Austin if he wanted to see it and threatening to arrest Taylor if he did not comply. At that point, Taylor began placing a phone call to the local sheriff, and the TDSHS employees and State Troopers beat a hasty retreat. It was later determined that no properly executed affidavit ever existed.

Two days later the TDSHS employees returned for a third time, just ahead of a Sheriff’s Deputy. Taylor told them that since he was expecting the deputy to be there that morning to take statements about their previous visits, he would talk to them after he spoke to the deputy. He told the two TDSHS/FDA ‘officers’ to wait outside until the deputy took statements from four employees who had witnessed what had transpired the previous days.
“In the middle of the first statement,” said Taylor, “the investigator came in asked to speak to the deputy. The deputy followed him to the lobby and I followed right behind. The TDSHS/FDA officer asked if I was going to comply with the warrant for an inspection. I again told him that I would talk to him when I finished with the deputy”

“He then proceeded to say that since I was refusing his inspection,” Taylor continued, “would I sign a document stating that I refused inspection, and I said no and they meekly left. After that, we finished giving our statements to the Sheriff’s deputy and so far they have not been back.”

Since then, they continued to stonewall and refused to answer questions or otherwise attempt to make clarifications requested by Ben Taylor in accordance with the presiding judge’s request for both sides to work together to try to work out an agreement. When Utopia Silver asked why they were being singled out for such actions and nothing was happening to similar companies, Assistant Attorney General Noriega said that it had been decided to make Utopia Silver a test case. After he made the statement, he was interrupted by the TDSHS officer, who, according to Taylor “proceeded to hem and haw on that point, obviously not comfortable with that statement having been made by the Assistant Attorney General.”

At a subsequent hearing in the Fall of 2007, the judge stated that he was ordering a trial date to be set then and tried to first intimidate and then coerce Ben Taylor to agree to date for the trial. Mr. Taylor refused to agree, since in doing so he would be in effect entering into a contract to agree to the court’s jurisdiction. At one point a deputy was summoned with the clear implication that Mr. Taylor might be arrested if he failed to agree.

Taylor, after various other tactics of intimidation by the judge, told the judge that, “The court might have the power to force me into a trial, but I will never agree to any trial date and will attend only “in propria persona” (in one’s own proper person) by “special appearance” in order to defend my God-given Rights.” (Note: an appearance may be either general or special; the former is a simple unqualified or unrestricted submission to the jurisdiction of the court where the defendant waives defects of service, the latter is for the purpose of objecting to the sufficiency of service or the jurisdiction of the court over a defendant without submitting to such jurisdiction).

Later, Taylor was told by a court official, “This system operates on fear, you have no fear and that’s a problem for us.”

Instead of setting a trial, a hearing was set before a new judge to determine a date for interrogatories and discovery as well as inspections and sanctions – all of which are slippery grounds and another step towards a trial. At the subsequent hearing, Taylor again stated his objections to the jurisdiction and a new hearing was ordered to determine jurisdiction. When the new hearing was held and both sides presented their arguments, the judge rendered no immediate verdict and said she would take it under advisement and render a subsequent decision.

As expected, when the judge made her ruling she apparently ignored all evidence against the ‘court’s jurisdiction’ entered by Taylor and co-defendant Adask, however she failed to do so pursuant to the State’s own Rules of Civil Procedure, first sending an email of her ruling and then later sending a letter of the ruling when challenged about her emailing a ‘court order’. Some observers believe that such an unorthodox method of ‘delivering’ a purported ‘court order’ was yet another in a string of ploys intended to trap Taylor, Adask and other defendants into unwittingly submitting to the court’s jurisdiction.

Instead of accepting the improper service, Taylor sent his own “Notice of Insufficient Process” to the court along with a demand to the court and the prosecutor to “Cease and Desist” their fraudulent actions against Taylor, Adask and Utopia Silver.

Taylor’s notice was sent on November 30th of last year – and since it was filed, a silence has descended upon the case. As Taylor reports, “We haven’t heard anything from the Texas Attorney General or the courts since late November of last year (about 230 days). At that time, the “judge” issued (by email initially) a court order denying my and Al Adask’s (Anti-Shyster publisher and Texas State Supreme Court Libertarian Party candidate) special appearance.” (As noted previously, a “special appearance” is one in which is made without submitting to the jurisdiction of the court).

As Taylor reports, “This Notice along with co-defendant Al Adask’s “Man or other animals filing” (see http://wordpress.com/tag/man-or-other-animals/) seems to have short-circuited the Plaintiff’s intention to set another court hearing date for Motions for court ordered interrogatories and depositions under oath, as well as a restraining order to prevent my selling of colloidal silver (which they say is a drug because of customer testimonials) and silver generators (which they call a medical device).

“Also filed by us into evidence was a number of other things, including, but not limited to, The Organic Laws of The United States of America, The Common Law (specifically The Herbalist Charter), The Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 1938, which limits the FDA’s jurisdiction/authority to Washington, DC and the territories (supported by the 18th and 21st Amendments) except in the regulating (organizing for efficient flow) of interstate commerce (transportation across State lines – there is no FDA authority to control the sale and manufacturing of anything that I can find.), the case of Lopez v. United States, Dun & Bradstreet documents showing that the Texas Courts and government ‘agencies’ are “corporations for profit”, the United States Code 28 Sec. 3002 showing that the “United States” is a federal corporation (which is a fictitious rather than an organic entity- our God-given Rights are recognized only by the organic United States of America)and numerous other Supreme cases that establish that God-given Rights cannot be statutorily converted into privileges.”

Has Taylor and health freedom triumphed over a system that is corrupt and unconstitutional? Time may tell otherwise, but so far the silence has been deafening.  Many who have followed the case feel that the FDA and their state servants bit off much more than they realized when they decided to take on Taylor and Utopia Silver. Instead of finding a small company and a man they could steamroll and bully, they have instead been fought to a standstill by a man who is determined to carry this fight to the very end no matter what the personal cost.

More than one astute observer has pointed out that  the powers that be may well be facing some very thorny issues they had just as soon not see the light of day – such as the FDA commissioning state officers, the constitutional limits on the true powers of the FDA and other such agencies’ true constitutional powers, freedom of commercial speech, and the issue of whether God-given unalienable rights set out in the Declaration of Independence and secured by the Constitution trump the entire corporate “color of law” administrative system of courts and agencies which have been used to usurp our freedoms and liberties over the year.

Should the state and their FDA masters continue further actions Taylor promises that not only will such issues be at the forefront of his case, but also that he and his co-defendants will then “go on the offensive by filing suit against key officials (in their individual capacities) who have conspired to violate our Constitutionally secured Rights. Public servants/government officials lose their “official immunity” if they overstep their authority as granted (and limited) by the Organic Laws of the USA.”

The Herxheimer Reaction – Feeling worse before feeling better

The Herxheimer Reaction is a short-term (from days to a few weeks) detoxification reaction in the body. As the body detoxifies, it is not uncommon to experience flu-like symptoms including headache, joint and muscle pain, body aches, sore throat, general malaise, sweating, chills, nausea or other symptoms.

This is a normal — and even healthy — reaction that indicates that parasites, fungus, viruses, bacteria or other pathogens are being effectively killed off. The biggest problem with the Herxheimer reaction is that people stop taking the supplement or medication that is causing the reaction, and thus discontinue the very treatment that is helping to make them better. Although the experience may not make you feel particularly good, the Herxheimer Reaction is actually a sign that healing is taking place.

What Is The Herxheimer Reaction?

The Herxheimer Reaction is an immune system reaction to the toxins (endotoxins) that are released when large amounts of pathogens are being killed off, and the body does not eliminate the toxins quickly enough. Simply stated, it is a reaction that occurs when the body is detoxifying and the released toxins either exacerbate the symptoms being treated or create their own symptoms. The important thing to note is that worsening symptoms do not indicate failure of the treatment in question; in fact, usually just the opposite. 

A Rose By Any Other Name

Technically known as the Jarisch-Herxheimer Reaction, this syndrome goes by many names, including JHR, the Herxheimer Effect, the Herxheimer Response, a Herx Reaction, Herx or Herks. The most common terminology used is the Herxheimer Reaction. It is also often referred to as a healing crisis, a detox reaction, or die-off syndrome. 

History

The phenomenon was first described by Adolf Jarisch (1860-1902) working in Vienna, Austria, and a few years later by Karl Herxheimer (1861-1942), working in Frankfort, Germany. Both doctors were dermatologists mainly treating syphilitic lesions of the skin. They noticed that in response to treatment, many patients developed not only fever, perspiration, night sweats, nausea and vomiting, but their skin lesions became larger and more inflamed before settling down and healing. Interestingly, they found that those who had the most extreme reactions healed the best and fastest. The patient might be ill for 2-3 days, but then their lesions resolved. 

A Medical Example

The Herxheimer reaction is caused by the release of toxic chemicals (endotoxins) released from the cell walls of dying bacteria due to effective treatment. The Herxheimer Reaction is well recognized in medical circles and is certainly not confined to the world of natural medicine or supplements.

For example, a recent study report (Feb ’04) on the treatment of Sarcoidosis found that, “. . . without exception, the improving patients are reporting periodic aggravation of their symptoms as an apparent direct response to the antibiotics. In other words, these patients say that their treatment makes them feel much worse before they experience symptom-relief.” The abstract of the study goes on to say, “This phenomenon is known as the Jarisch-Herxheimer Reaction (JHR) and is often referred to informally as Herx. JHR is believed to be caused when injured or dead bacteria release their endotoxins into blood and tissues faster than the body can comfortably handle it. . . . This provokes a sudden and exaggerated inflammatory response . . . . In Sarcoidosis patients, the Herxheimer reaction seems to be a valuable indication that an antibiotic is reaching its target.” In the conclusion, the author states: “In my work with Sarcoidosis patients, it is my experience that recovering MP patients understand and welcome the Herxheimer reactions even when they must endure temporary increased suffering. They accept it as the price that they must pay in order to get well and they even seem to find it gratifying to experience tangible evidence of bacterial elimination. “

Colloidal Silver & The Herxheimer Reaction

Herxheimer reactions in response to Colloidal Silver can occur as the body adjusts to the die-off process and responds to the increased load on the lymphatic system – particularly in cases of systemic and chronic conditions and/or severe infections.

The most common Herxheimer reactions for users of Colloidal Silver are:

• Headache
• Flu-like symptoms
• Itch and rashes
• Flushes

Usually, the reaction lasts a few days. In more severe cases, reactions can last a week or more.

In most cases, the reaction tends to be mild and barely noticeable, but there are exceptions, particularly in cases of severe infection. Certain conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis, Lyme Disease and other spirochetical illnesses can engender noticeable Herx Reactions as the disease-causing pathogens are killed off. Users of Colloidal Silver who take the product for Hepatitis may also experience die-off symptoms, such as headache. Those inhaling silver to treat lung and sinus infection may also feel immediately worse for a few hours or a day before starting to feel relief.

Herx reactions vary widely, depending on many factors, including the general health of the individual, the condition being treated, the degree of toxicity that exists in the body, the frequency and dosage of Colloidal Silver taken, and the support the body is provided in eliminating the toxins as rapidly as possible. Method of use is also factor. For example, applications that allow concentrated dosages of Colloidal Silver to come in direct contact with the source of infection are more likely to result in a die-off reaction than oral use.

Although this article focuses on the Herxheimer reaction, please keep in mind that not all users of Colloidal Silver will experience a Herx reaction. However, it is important to be aware of the possibility and to understand that it is a symptom of healing, so that Colloidal Silver users do not become discouraged if symptoms temporarily worsen and/or discontinue use of the product.

Clarification

Colloidal Silver does not cause the Herxheimer reaction. Colloidal Silver is non-toxic, and a healthy individual will notice no reaction at all to Colloidal Silver. However, if there is infection in the body, a Herxheimer reaction may result as the infection is killed off. The severity of the Herx reaction is often an indicator of just how much toxicity there was in the body to begin with and is an indicator of the effectiveness of the treatment. It is actually a sign that the body is restoring itself to good health.

Time Frames

There is differing data on the timing of a Herxheimer reaction. Some data indicates that it usually occurs between four and 24 hours from the onset of treatment. Others note that between Day 3 and Day 5 of a treatment program is often when the reaction is most noticeable. What appears to be most accurate is that reaction times — and indeed whether there will be any reaction at all — are strictly dependent on the individual being treated. Duration of the reaction also varies widely, from an hour or a few hours to days or even a week.

What To Do In The Event of a Herxheimer Reaction

If the reaction is mild enough that it can be borne without grave discomfort, the best approach is to continue treatment and assist the body in eliminating the toxins as quickly and as thoroughly as possible by the methods below.

If the reaction is too severe, cutting back on the dosage or frequency of use can be very helpful in lessening symptoms but allowing the healing process to continue. Sometimes stopping for a day or so and then beginning again at a lesser dosage can allow for quick relief.

The best assistance for the body is drinking plenty of distilled water (a half gallon a day is recommended).

Other helpful suggestions include:

• Getting plenty of sunshine
• Minimizing exercise for the detox period
• Keeping the organs of elimination (the bowels, lungs, skin, kidneys, lymph) functioning properly
• Keeping the diet relatively pure during the detox period so that the body is not loaded with additional chemicals and toxins to eliminate while it is already working hard.

Adding lemon to the water, taking cold press olive oil first thing in the morning, taking sea salt baths and/ or steam baths and saunas, plus liver and elimination system supports can also be helpful, though any herbal supplements should be kept to a minimum and should be very mild and gentle in nature.

Conclusion

The most important advice in relation to Colloidal Silver use and the Herxheimer reaction is to “bear with the process”. The reaction is usually over within a few days and is well worth the cleansing and healing results. Plus, it is a sure sign that the Colloidal Silver is doing its job and working to help restore your body to natural health!

Warning: Any serious symptoms such as cardiac irregularity; breathing difficulties; chest, lung or throat constriction; significant swelling; or other severe symptoms should be given immediate medical attention.
